Review of "Into Thin Air"

"Into Thin Air" by Jon Krakauer is a great book for someone who enjoys the outdoors. This book includes the thrills of adventure, but also the lows and dangers that come with these adventures. The book is slow at some points which is surprising from an "adventure" story. Once on Mt, Everest, the book gets an adrenaline rush and you don't want to put it down because you want to find out what happens to the climbers. Since I am an outdoor, adventure person, I really enjoyed reading the book and reading of the great adventure in climbing Mt. Everest. In spite of saying this, you can also just read this book with an imagination of what was happening, an enjoy it for the story being told. You get such a sense of what is happening that you are just blown away by what you are reading. You will say, there is no way that would happen.

About Jon Krakauer

Jon wrote "Into Thin Air" after he had a terrible accident on Mt. Everest. He was hired by Outside magazine to write an article about the commercialism of Mt. Everest. Before getting invited to do this assignment, he would write small comics and articles for the magazine. When he did get invited, he was thrilled because he was a huge mountaineer who had climbed lots of mountains and who always wanted to climb the great Mt. Everest. Jon said yes he would be delighted to do the article. Before going to Mt. Everest he told Outside magazine to put it off for a year to allow him to train for the great challenge he would undertake. Jon trained in Settle where he still lives but also traveled to India to climb some of there great mountains.
